About Gina Lewis Watts:
Lyric coloratura soprano Gina Lewis Watts has garnered praise from presenters, conductors and singers, including the illustrious Dame Sarah Walker in the UK. She sings with a warmth and honesty that conveys a deep, emotional connection with the music. With breath-control and an even, three-octave range that carries through from the highest spinning overtones in Gilda’s Caro Nome (Rigoletto) to the emotional depth of Wolf’s Mignon, Ms. Lewis Watts delivers every note with strength and clarity. To hear Gina Lewis Watts is to be moved, to connect with the music within the notes, the poetry in the words.
Ms. Lewis Watts hails from Newfoundland, Canada where she gained her performance degree at Acadia University. Her solo performances include St. John Passion, Messiah, Mozart Mass in C and Allegri Miserere. Operatic roles include Cleopatra in Händel’s Giulio Cesare and Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel. In early 2007 Ms. Lewis Watts sang as part of Noel Edison’s Mendelssohn Singers at Carnegie Hall in Oratorio Terezin. Her recording of Marlene Sweetko’s settings of e.e. cummings poems for soprano won Sweetko honours and acclaim nationally. Lewis Watts also won a soloist competition in Nova Scotia to perform L’amero Saro Costante from Mozart’s Il re pastore with the St. Lawrence String Quartet.
Ms. Lewis Watts has recently completed intense training and performances with such luminaries as Jonathan Hinden, Eugene Asti, Richard Jackson, John Ramster, Robert Dean, Neil Jenkins, Penelope MacKay and John Hancorn as part of the world-famous Ardingly International Music School, including an exclusive Master Class with Dame Sarah Walker. Ms. Lewis Watts resides with her husband in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
